from a loving father

so todd felt left out that his ultrasound drawing didn't make the first blog. please find attached todd's drawing of our child via ultrasound. what is actually kind of neat is that todd made this drawing before he saw the 2nd ultrasound- his drawing and the real thing actually look a lot alike! todd knows his child so well- it is a gingerbread kid! i somehow knew that "ginger" would be an accurate description of our child thanks to todd's influence, but i thought it would have to do more with the hair/skin coloring and not the shape! ha! what a proud papa.

entry number uno.

this is it- motherhood here i come! todd and i found out the end of september that we were pregnant. we are currently a little over 11 weeks (baby is the size of a lime). it was surreal, exciting, frightening and unbelievable all at the same time. todd's first comment once i told him we were pregnant was "well- what do we do now?!" i told him "i don't know- let it grow!?"
we have had 3 check-ups since then (one at 7 weeks, one at 9 weeks and one at 10.5 weeks). at 9 and 10.5 weeks we heard the heart beat both times! see below for the week 7 and week 9 baby ultrasounds. our next check-up is nov 28 (13 weeks) for the full 1st trimester scan. once we get word that everything went okay- we will go public with the news. for now- close friends and family know.

a few things that we have already decided are:

1. we do not want to know the sex of the baby. talk about an awesome surprise on the birth day! for those that desperately want to buy gender specific clothes- get baby a gift card and we can go shopping all together after baby arrives! we all know that i am a fairly plain and earthy girl anyways- so the nursery would be nature/animal theme regardless of the gender!
2. we picked our doctor (the same lady who delivered the one and only emmett spitzer)! we will be delivering at littleton adventist hospital.
3. due date is up in the air right now. we have heard from end of may to first week of june. we've even been given the birth date of june 9- my papa’s birthday! who knows when lil bambino will come!
4. we are working (and by "we" i mean "todd") are working daily on trying to get the basement all finished before baby comes. we will be putting the master bedroom, nursery, tv room and full bath down in the basement so todd is in go mode to get it done by mid-may. any one that wants to help him- please call or text! todd jay is going to be the best dad ever.
5. you better believe i have about 26 baby names already picked out. we are settled on a boy name- girl names are still up in the air.

i cannot believe this day is actually here- i am pregnant with a baby of my own! everyone knows my extreme love for the little ones. while my pregnancy has been hard thus far (sick to my stomach, lower back pains, constipated, strange hunger/full signs and tired all the time) every day i just get reminded of the joy that will be here in a little over 6 months! the good cravings so far have been foods high in fiber, potassium and protein (bananas, eggs, bran)- todd got be 2 huge bundles of bananas the other day and they were gone in 2 days! the bad cravings have been pizza and cheese fries! (i have only given in a couple times so far!)
